Description

At that time, besides the Buddha, there were sixty arahats. The Buddha encouraged them to go forth for the spread of Dhamma. He had taught them Dhamma, not the Buddhist Dhamma. He sent these disciples as well, to teach the Dhamma, not the Buddhist Dhamma. The universal Dhamma comprising of sīla (morality), samādhi (concentration) and pañña (wisdom) which is beneficial in the beginning, beneficial in the middle, and beneficial in the end, He instructed them to teach Dhamma to the people by becoming a shining example of Dhamma. This message of Dhamma was sent out by him for the benefit of many. A pure beginning was made for spread of the universal Dhamma.
