Description

When Brahmadatta, son of the king of Kosala, listened to the Buddha’s discourse, he developed faith in Dhamma and he joined the Sangha. Within a few days, he became an arahat by practising Vipassana. Once, when he was on his alms-round, someone insulted him, used abusive language but he remained silent, quiet. How can there be anger in an arahat practising Vipassana! One who generates anger towards an angry person harms himself. One who doesn’t generate anger towards an angry person but remains calm himself indeed helps himself, helps others as well. The one who had uttered badwords to Brahmadutta was impressed by his calmness and came to take refuge in the Buddha. He got ordained, learnt Vipassana and got liberated from his defilements. He also became free from anger, free from suffering.
