Description
His aim was to go to Magadha where there were teachers who belonged to the Samaṇa tradition. On the way to those centres, he passed Rajagiri, the capital of Magadha. People were impressed when they saw the radiant monk. He went for alms from house to house. Then he went near Pandu cave and sat down to partake his meal. When he finished his meal, Bimbisāra, the king of Magadha, came to meet him. The king learnt that this recluse was the son of his friend, the Sākyan King. Bimbisara requested him to give the life of a recluse and offered him a part of his own kingdom. But Siddhartha was firm in his decision. He firmly declined this offer and proceeded on his journey.
