Description
When King Suddhodana heard that his son, the ascetic prince, had become a Buddha and that he had started the Wheel of Dhamma into motion, he invited his son to Kapilavatthu. The Buddha, along with his Sangha, reached Kapilavatthu. Early in the morning of the day after his arrival, to give people an opportunity to earn merits, the Buddha along with the Sangha set out on his alms-round, moving from house to house. When his father Suddhodana heard this news, he became distressed and rushed out to bring the Buddha and the accompanying bhikkhus to the palace. He respectfully offered meals to all of them. All members of the royal household came forward to pay respects to the Buddha. Only Yasodhara did not come. She sent a message that if she possessed any good qualities, the noble prince would come to see her and then she would pay respects to him. She knew very well that he had left household life in order to become the Fully Enlightened One. Therefore, she did not have a trace of anger towards him. She had never lamented, had never became agitated after he had left for homeless life. Blessed is Yashodhara!
