Description
Dhammadinna was the wife of the wealthy treasurer Visakh of Rajgir. Visakha became a disciple of the Buddha. He lost all sensual desire towards his wife or any craving for food. His wife did not like this. He explained to her that with the practice of Vipassana, he had attained the stage of an anagami, of a non-returner. After listening to him, his wife developed an urge for the Dhamma. With his permission she joined the Order of bhikkhunis. She became an arahat. One day, Anagami Visakha came to her and respectfully asked a few questions to her. When he asked a few profound questions related to nibbana, Dhammadinna told him that he would understand them when he reached the stage of an arahat. Inspired by Dhammadinna’s words he also attained arahathood by continuing his practice of Vipassana.
