Description
Nearly a thousand years ago, all the spiritual traditions of India became corrupt to a greater or lesser extent. The Buddha’s teaching was no exception. This blemish (defect) traveled through Bengal, Assam and Manipur and entered into Myanmar as well. Bagan, the capital of Myanmar in those days, became the nucleus of this decay. However, in the Mon kingdom in the south, the Tipitaka as well as Vipassana were preserved in pure form. An Arahant Dhammadassi from that region came to Bagan and clearly explained the true teachings of the Buddha to King Aniruddha. From then on the pure dhamma was restored.
